The year 2026 marks the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the birthday of the United States of America. Since our VBS takes place the week before the 4th of July, we decided to incorporate this celebration into our lessons. The Bible teaches that God rules in the kingdom of men (Daniel 4:17, 25, 32). And, the nation that submits to His rule and follows His Word will be a blessed nation. “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord; and the people he hath chosen for his own inheritance” (Psalm 33:12).
These lessons will help us to see how God rules in men’s kingdoms and how a nation – any nation – can be blessed by Him. Of course, God’s kingdom today is the church (Matthew 16:18-19; Colossians 1:13; Hebrews 12:28; Revelation 1:9). Therefore, these lessons will teach how to be faithful citizens of the Kingdom of Heaven (Philippians 3:20).
